Sour Dough Bread Recipe
There’s something truly comforting about fresh homemade bread that store-bought varieties just can’t match. The aroma alone, wafting through your kitchen, invites a sense of warmth and home. Unlike mass-produced bread, which often contains preservatives and additives, homemade bread is crafted with simple, wholesome ingredients, allowing the natural flavours of flour, yeast, and a touch of salt to shine through. Garlic Breadsticks
Ingredients:
1 tbsp honey
3 1/4 cup white flour
2 tsp salt
2 tsp instant yeats
1 1/2 cup warm water
1 tbsp olive oil
3 tbsp cornmeal or semolina
Directions:
Add flour and salt to large bowl (if using a mixer use a dough hook and add igredients to mixing bowl)
Create a small well in the centre of the flour and pour the warm water into the well
Add instant yeast to warm water and fold into flour- pause after a couple folds and add the honey, then conintue to mix the dough until it comes together
In a separate bowl drizzle olive oil and make sure its coating the entire inside of the bowl
Add the dough to the oiled bowl and cover tightly and let dough rise for an hour until it doubles in size.
Sprinkle cornmeal and flour onto surface then place dough on top and cut into 6-8 pieces
Stretch dough into a long stick and place onto a pizza pan (baking pan works, use parchment paper)
Bake at 450 for 25-30 min until golden and crispy
Optional- brush with melted butter and fresh herbs
Using a pizza pan (round baking sheet with holes) ensures airflow and makes the breadsticks crispy and airy.
